DONALD KUYKENDALL

Donald passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Born in Old Hickory, Tennessee on October 4, 1929 to Harry Hobson and Eunice Stone Kuykendall, Donald moved to Dexter with his family at the age of one. He attended Dexter Schools, graduating from high school in 1947.

On December 28, 1948, he married Lorene Nowak. During their marriage of 68 years, they were blessed with 5 sons and many grandchildren.

Known to be a strong, hard-working farmer, Donald was always involved in agriculture and farming from his early years where he farmed numerous crops and hauled hay and cotton bales.

In his later years, Donald became heavily involved in pecan farming, initially working with Clarence Wheeler, and the past 30 years with Chase Farms.

Deeply involved in his sons' lives as well as the youth in the community, Donald was instrumental in organizing the Little League, and 4H where he served as the first 4H Leader in Dexter, as well as many other youth activities in Dexter. He enjoyed reading, playing dominos and cards.

He was preceded in death by his son, Tommy; his mother and dad; his sister, Dorothy; and brother, David.

He is survived by his wife Lorene; sons Bill and wife, MarySue; Bob and wife, Shannon; Gary, and Lane; sister Doris and brother Danny. Also surviving are grandchildren: Chris, Brandon, Jason, Jennifer, Lance, Tamara, Krista, Megan, Jacie, and Kemp. Great grandchildren surviving is Kolby, Clayton, Taber, Emilee, Gia, Kayd, Lucy, Gage, Holly, Emmett, Hailey, Justis, Kirklyn, Gracen, Breckyn, Logan, Mattox, and Daegan.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Kymera Cancer Center and a special thanks to Dr. Tariq Braik, as well as Anita Marrujo and the personnel at Gentiva Hospice.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Memory Lawn with Pastor Stephen Deutsch officiating. Donald's ten grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
