Donald Brooks

On February 2nd, 2014, Jesus came to take a strong man home. Donald was a loving husband, father, and Papa. Graveside services will be at South Park Cemetery on Saturday, February 8th, 2014 at 10:00 am. Family and friends will be received at 1106 South Kentucky Avenue, Roswell, New Mexico after the service.

He was born in Lubbock, Texas on October 29th, 1946, to Johnny and Audra Brooks. Both have preceded him in death. Donald met his wife, Wanda Logan, in Lubbock, Texas at the HiDHo where Donald told all his friends she was the one he was going to marry. It was love at first sight. Not only did he gain a partner for life, but he also gained a mother Rose Logan Porter and two dads Walter Logan and William Porter whom he loved very much. All have preceded him in death.
Donald moved his family to Roswell, New Mexico in 1988. He worked for TMCNova bus where he was known to his friends as Vern or Dmnit, Eastern New Mexico Medical Center St. Marys, and Roswell Lumber. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with family, listening to Indian flute music with his wife, watching westerns especially John Wayne, and just fiddlefarting around.

Donald has 3 siblings, Barbara Ann Williams of New Deal, Texas, Lynda John Haddock deceased, and Nita Sue Brooks deceased.
Donald is survived by his wife Wanda Lou Brooks, his children Kimberley Walter and spouse John Walter, and Regina Dawn Walter all of Roswell, NM. He is also survived by his grandkids Jodi Brum and spouse Patrick Brum U.S. Army, Donald King and spouse Jessie King U.S. Air Force, William Johnson, Seth King, Destiny BrooksBurleson, Jayce Brooks and Salem Walter, all of Roswell, NM. Greatgrandkids Sean Brum, Austin King and Zoey Brum. He had numerous nieces, nephews, and friends too many to mention but Don loved them all.
Donald proudly served his country during the Vietnam era from 1965 to 1968 in the United States Army.

Note from Wanda: Fortyfour years weve been together, we promised back then it would be forever. The time has come that we have to part, but you will always be in my heart. So go on your journey and enjoy it, my Dear, for you have nothing to fear. Our good Lord is waiting for you above, with arms stretched open and theyre filled with love. There is no sorrow or pain up there, so go with our blessings but know you are missed. Til we meet again, I love you, my Darling.
