Ditta Mae McCullough

A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 5, 2008 in Hagerman, NM at the First Presbyterian Church for Ditta Mae McCullough, 78, of Dumas, TX who passed away July 2, 2008 in Dumas, TX. Burial will follow at Hagerman Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 207 W. Pine Lodge Road, Roswell, NM

Ditta was born on April 28, 1930 to William and Leona Davis in Hagerman, NM. Her parents have preceded her in death as well as a sister, Vernese Boyce Pollard and grandson Chris Harshey.

Ditta married William F. McCullough in Hagerman, NM in 1947. He preceded her in death in 1986.

She is survived by her sons: Jim McCullough and wife Jan of San Antonio, TX, William F. Billy McCullough of Albuquerque, NM; her daughters: Barbara Harrell and husband Larry of Flagstaff, AZ; and Lois Harshey and husband Mike of Dumas, TX; as well as her grandchildren: Rebecca McCulllough, Victoria McCullough, Jimmy McCullough, Detra Chandler, Kendra Russell, Amber Curtis, Brody McCullough, LJ Harrell, Stacy Kimmelman, AmyBeth Harrell, Barbara Jo Miller, Kimberly Key and nineteen great grandchildren.

Ditta Mae was a long time resident of Hagerman. She graduated from Hagerman High School with the class of 1947 along with Mabel Nail Minor a longtime and faithful friend. She was a member of the Hagerman Presbyterian Church.

Ditta served as Town Clerk of Hagerman for 37 years. She was an avid journalist and a historian that greatly enjoyed researching and gathering historical facts of the Hagerman Valley

Ditta was instrumental in establishing a library for the town of Hagerman as reading was her favorite past time.

Her life was filled with photographs; it was her nature to always be ready with her camera in hand.

The love we give away is the only love we keep.

In lieu of flowers a memorial may be made in remembrance of Grandson Chris Harshey to the Chaves County 4-H, in care of Janelle Duffey, at 200 E. Chisum, Roswell, NM 88203.
