Delia Sanchez Cobos

A funeral mass is scheduled for 12:10 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2009 At Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish for our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Delia Sanchez Cobos, age 74, who passed away on March 5, 2009 at Roswell Regional Hospital following a difficult illness. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery. A rosary will be held Monday, March 9 at 7:00 p.m., at Assumption Parish.

Mom was born on February 3, 1935 in Manzano, New Mexico to Miguel and Requel Griego Sanchez who preceded her in death.

She was married to Johnny Cobos on October 29, 1955 in Roswell. He also preceded her in death after 44 years of marriage. Mom, I know that you are beaming because you have finally been reunited with your true love.

Delia is survived by her daughter or as she would have put itmy daughter-Diane, Diane Cobos Ventura and her husband Joseph whom she loved dearly of Roswell: five grandchildren: Rick Najar of Melbourne, Australia, Kristy Najar of Roswell, Desiree Najar of Roswell, Autumn Najar of Roswell and Frankie Ventura of Roswell; seven great-grandsons: Isaac Najar, Jacob, Joshua Torres, Tristin Torres, Albert Albie Montoya, Isaiah Montoya, Josiah Castillo. Sisters: Dora LeJeune and the late Harry Lee LeJeune of Roswell, Mary Burrola and husband Jimmy of Roswell, Peggy Ortiz and husband Ignacio of Roswell, Teresa Vigil and husband Paul of Santa Fe, Rosemary Sanchez of Roswell, Isabel Silva and husband Albert of Roswell. Brothers: Benny Sanchez and wife Carol of Albuquerque, Frank Sanchez and wife Elka of Chapparel, Mike Sanchez and wife Cheryl of Roswell. She was preceded in death by brother Jerry Sanchez and two infant brothers. Sister-in-laws, Mary Sanchez of Albuquerque, Alice Orona of Roswell, Jeannie Mireles and husband Eloy of Roswell. Aunts: Flora Sanchez and Regina Sanchez. Uncles: Eugenio Sanchez and Florencio Sanchez. Also, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her very special cousin, Dora Herrera of Albuquerque.

Delia was very proud of her life growing up in Manzano, New Mexico. As the oldest sibling, she shared many of her life stories about growing up in Manzano, where life was simpler, yet fulfilling and most importantly a place where God, church and family were what mattered most. We will truly miss those fond memories of our heritage.

Pallbearers are Sandra Burrola, Anthony Burrola, Raul Orona, David Ortiz, Ethan Espinoza, EJ Mireles, Ronnie LeJeune, and Frank Filip Espinoza.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jimmy Burrola, Ignacio Ortiz, Albert Silva and Paul Vigil and numerous God-Children.

Family and friends will be received immediately following interment at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall located at 3201 S. Sunset Avenue.
