Delfa Matta

A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday September 25, 2008 at St. Johns Catholic Church for Delfa Matta, 73, of Roswell, who passed away on September 23, 2008 at Roswell Regional Hospital. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2008 at St. Johns Catholic Church. Fr. Juan Montoya O.F.M. will officiate. Interment will follow the service at South Park Cemetery.

Delfa was born on August 6, 1935 to Jesus Hinojosa and Gregoria Ornelas in Presidio, Texas. Her parents have preceded her in death as well as one brother: Jesus Hinojosa; and her grandparents: Gregoria and Jesus Hinojosa.

Delfa married Frank C. Matta on March 23, 1954 in Pecos, Texas. He survives her at the family home.

Delfa is also survived by her sons: Oscar Matta and wife Sandra Ann, Frank Matta Jr. and Andrew Matta and his wife Sandra; his daughters: Sylvia Renteria and husband Martin and Suzanne Montoya and husband Richard; her brothers: Baltazar, Oscar and Hector; her sister: Delia Garza; as well as 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Delfa was a long time member of the Guadalupanas. She was a volunteer worker at the Salvation Thrift Shop, Hospital Auxiliary and A St. Johns Eucharistic Ministry.

Pallbearers will be Ray Matta, Joseph Matta, Mathew Matta, Anthony Valenzuela, Edward Valenzuela, Oscar Hinojosa Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rebecca, Deanna and Anais.
