A rosary is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., September 16, 2010 at St. Johns Catholic Church for David R. Montoya 58, went to meet his Savior September 10, 2010 in California where he had lived for the last forty years. He had been battling many illnesses, including cancer. A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., September 17, 2010 at St. Johns Catholic Church. Fr. Juan Antonio Gutierrez will officiate. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.
David was born on January 3, 1952 in Roswell, NM to Margarito P. Montoya and Juanita S Esquibel. His father has preceded him death.
David is survived by his mother Juanita Esquibel and husband Pete of Roswell, daughters Orlatta Garcia and husband Heriberto of Sparks, NV, Marilyn Walts Montoya and fianc George of Rialto, CA, and Monica Montoya Sears of Wilmington, CA, grandchildren Andrew, Nathan, Aryen, Noaha, Shyann, Jordon and Dylan, siblings Margaret R Nuo and Galdino Juarez of Norwalk, CA, Joe Montoya and wife Georgia of Albuquerque, NM, Yolanda Duran and husband Robert of Las Cruces, NM. Also surviving him are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
David loved music, gymnastics, dancing, baseball and boxing. He loved his family and really enjoyed spending time with them. He was of the Catholic faith and had a great belief in God.
Pallbearers are Robert Duran, Joe Huizar, Roger Walker, Bernardo Ceballos, Jim Teal, and Galdino Juarez. Honorary pallbearers are Heriberto Garcia, Albert Silva.
