Daniel Padilla Mendoza
A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 am, Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at St. Peters Catholic Church with funeral mass to follow at 11:00 am, for Daniel Mendoza, 83, who passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, Tuesday, March 23 at Ballard Funeral Home. Daniel was born August 6, 1937 in Dexter, NM to Inez Mendoza and Valentina Padilla Mendoza.
Daniel was a self-employed plumber and welder for 17 years in Roswell. He was a New Mexico State Mechanical Inspector for 13 years from which he retired. Daniel enjoyed fishing and hunting. One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his family, especially grandchildren and great grandchildren sitting and listening to music, cracking open a cold one while relaxing and talking with friends. He was a passionate and fiercely loving man that would always be there when you needed.
Those left to cherish his memory are the love his life his wife of 48 years Janie Mendoza; children Linda Mendoza of Hagerman, Mike Mendoza of Hagerman, Becky Vigil and Husband Richard of Chula Vista, CA, Elizabeth Salazar and husband David of Roswell, grandchildren Kristie Dunnahoo, Tommy Powell and wife Jovana, George Ray Garcia and wife Theresa, Michael Mendoza and wife Guadalupe, Gerina Piller and husband Martin, Megan Cook and husband Brandon, Richard Vigil, Victoria Vigil, Brittany Salazar and fiancé Tony, Chase Salazar and David Salazar Jr, also 20 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. His siblings Lucy Stacy, Lucilla Stensrude, Cindy Meyer and husband Mike, Richard “Dickie” Mendoza and wife Sarah and Lorina Alvarez; special sister-in-law Barbara Martinez and husband Alfred. Also surviving him are many close friends from the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3187.
Daniel is preceded in by his father and mother Inez and Valentina Mendoza; daughter Rebecca Mendoza; nephews Andrew Martinez and Gabriel Mendoza.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Alfred Martinez, Jerry Maestas, Tommy Powell, Richard Vigil, Chase Salazar and David Salazar Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be all of his buddies from FOE #3187.
