Dale lived his life as a hardworking, self-employed entrepreneur that was known as "Pops" by those who had the pleasure of working alongside him. He passionately shared his work ethic with his children and grandchildren. According to Dale's legend, he readily shared, "I struck my first welding arc at age 4." In 1954 at the age of 10, he launched his career as a one pony, ice cream vendor. A few years later, he expanded his operations, as he operated his own hamburger place that charged 10 cents a burger and he remains famous for his hamburgers today. Dale had the opportunity to enter the family business, which is one of the oldest businesses in Roswell, Goode's Welding on McGaffey Street. With his father's blessing, he ventured out as an independent portable welder in 1979. You could also find him enjoying another hobby as an accomplished scuba diver at Bottomless Lakes. In 1991, he expanded his portable welding business into welding and construction, Goode's Construction, Inc. until 2012. Most recently he enjoyed tinkering with various projects, attending auctions and strolling through New Mexico and Texas Pawn Shops, Northern Tools and Harbor Freight, where he could always spot a great deal, but he wasn't opposed to perusing through Craigslist on his iPad.
