Cruz Romero Sandoval Lucero Apodaca

A rosary is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 24, 2008 at St. Johns Catholic Church for Cruz Romero Sandoval Lucero Apodaca, 78 of Roswell who passed away October 21, 2008 at his home. A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 25, 2008 at St. Johns Catholic Church. Father Juan Montoya, O.F.M. of St. Johns Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.

Cruz was born on October 6, 1930 in Picacho, New Mexico to Cruz Apodaca Sr. and Francisca Sandoval Apodaca. His parents have preceded him in death.

Cruz married Avilia on August 9, 1954 in Juarez, Mexico. His wife survives him at the family home.

Cruz is survived by his sons: Salomon Apodaca of Phoenix, AZ, David Apodaca of El Paso, Texas and Antonio Apodaca of Las Cruces, NM.; his daughters: Francisca Apodaca, Margarita Apodaca and Consuelo Apodaca all of Roswell; his brothers: Benito Apodaca and wife Margie of Roswell, Perfecto Apodaca and wife Alice of Fountain Valley, CA and Ewaldo Apodaca and Beatrice of Roswell; his sisters: Betty Arias and husband Rafael of Roswell, Nora Franco and husband Lupe of Roswell, Delfina Quintanilla of Roswell, and Evelyn Gosciminski of Campo, CA; as well as 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Cruz served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church and Alter Society. His hobbies were camping and fishing. He also just loved being with his family.

Pallbearers will be Benito Conde, Israel Conde, Nicholas Conde, Carl Padilla Jr., Tommy Apodaca and Andrew Apodaca. Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Mendoza, Perfecto Apodaca, Benny Apodaca and Waldo Apodaca.
