Cresencio Mendez

A rosary will be recited on Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Ballard Funeral Home Chapel at 7:00 P.M. for Cresencio Mendez, 80, who passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at his home. Funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Abel Olivas of St. Johns Catholic Church on Monday, April 21, 2014 at Ave Maria Center at 10:00 A.M., burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.
Cresencio was born March 31, 1934 in Moreno, Durango, Mexico to Miguel and Rosa Reyes Mendez both parents preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by many of his brothers and sisters.
Cresencio leaves behind his wife Socorro Mendez of Roswell, NM sons Rafael Arturo Mendez and his wife Manuela of Mexico, Oscar Mendez and his wife Maria of Midland, TX, Sam Mendez and his wife Sabrina of Carlsbad, NM. Daughters Terrie M. Hernandez and husband Joe of Carlsbad, NM, Rosa Mendez of Las Cruces, NM., sixteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Cresencio was an active member of St. Johns Catholic Church. He loved to travel and visit his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, buying and selling different items as this kept him going because he loved dealing with people.
Serving as pallbearers are Sebastian Mendez, Miguel A. Landaverde, David Ramirez, Jr., Oscar Mendez, Jr., Lionel Camarena, Jr., Eduardo Mendez.
