A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 16, 2009 at the South Main Church of Christ for Claude Dale Martin, 76, who passed away November 11, 2009 in Albuquerque, NM. Dale was cremated according to his wishes. Robert Moore of South Main Church of Christ will officiate.

Dale was born on September 2, 1933 in Levelland, Texas to Marion Riley Martin and Effie Mae Wilfong Martin. His parents have preceded him in death as well as his first wife Ida Mae Akers who passed away in 1995.

Dale married Geri Floyd McDonald in Roswell on February 20, 1998. She survives him at the family home.

Dale is also survived by his daughters: Dianna Boatman and husband Charles of Clovis, Dalene Call and husband Keith of Cheyene, WY, Kathy McDonald Bickerstaff of Sherman, TX; his son: Jack McDonald and wife Jacque of Southlake, TX; his grandchildren: Paul Cash and wife Amber of Roswell, Lukas Cash and wife Kacy of Portales, Kyle Call of Cheyene, WY, Koll Bickerstaff of Sherman, TX, Kelsea Bickerstaff of Sherman, TX, and Cash McDonald of Southlake, TX; and his great grandchildren: Karabella Finley, Marlee Cash, and Abrahm Cash all of Portales.

Dale went to school and graduated from the Clovis High School in 1950. He then began working for Mountain Bell Telephone Company in 1954. He started as a lineman and worked his way up to management until he retired in 1981. He then moved to Roswell from Denver, CO in 1986. He was a member of the Jinglebob Club, Enchanted Squares Square Dance Club Caller, the Roswell Elks Lodge; a Volunteer for the Senior Circle and was involved with Hug a Bear for Roswell Independent School District. Dale was a volunteer for the Cowboys for Cancer in Las Cruces, was a great story teller and loved to visit and play golf. He was a history buff, particularly, military history. He also enjoyed classic western movies.

Honorary pallbearers will be Members of Enchanted Squares Square Dance Club, Lonnie Green, Tom Carpenter, D.E. Pinky McDaniel, Bill Floyd and Val Call.

Memorials can be made in Dales name to the New Mexico Christian Childrens Home, Box 48, Portales, NM 88130, the St. Judes Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, the Assurance Home, 1000 E. 18th St., Roswell, NM 88201 or a charity of ones choice.
