Chester Glen Montgomery

Funeral services for Chester Montgomery have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Ballard Chapel, Pastor Onsy Whicker will officiate. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Roswell Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military graveside services. Chester passed away on September 18, 2009 at Mission Arch Care Center in Roswell.

Chester was born on December 24, 1922 in Alma, Oklahoma to John Lee Montgomery and Minnie Lee Pope, his parents preceded him in death. Chester married Edna Irene Holman on July 12, 1946 in Wellington, Texas; she survives him at the family home.

He is survived by his son; Joe Montgomery and wife Marilyn of Palmdale, CA., his daughters; Barbara Peck and husband Lester of Roswell, Nancy Montgomery of Roswell, and Reba Baird and husband Jim of Roswell. Grandchildren; Daniel Peck, Charissa and husband Edward Dimas, Newell and wife Amy Peck, Peigh and husband Larry McCreary, Tamara Montgomery, Candice and husband Tommy Rincon, Chandler and wife Shauna Montgomery. Great-grandchildren; Christopher Peck, Christina Aker, Kendall Peck, Taylor Peck, Nathan Peck, Trevor Herrington, Hunter and Jordan Rincon, Jayton and Lukas Montgomery. Great great-grandchildren; Lavonte, Trayvon, and Atlantis.

Chester was of the Baptist faith. He loved reading and taking his grandchildren fishing and caring for them all. He also enjoyed playing dominos and cards. Chester served our country in the US Army and fought in WWII.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Peck, Newell Peck, Chandler Montgomery, Christopher Peck, Trevor Herrington, Larry McCreary, Tommy Rincon, Patrick Thommarson and Jimmy Williams. Honorary pallbearer will be George Mendoza.
