Charles D. Chuck Stanley was born in Roswell, to Betty Francis Stanley and L. Wayne Stanley June 9, 1954. He departed this life on August 19, 2007, following an extended illness. A grave-side service is scheduled at South Park Cemetery for 9:00 am Saturday, August 25. Pastor Dare Stevens will officiate.
Chuck grew up in Roswell and graduated Roswell High School in 1972. His father had hoped Chuck would pursue a white collar profession, and he did study for two years at New Mexico State University. His heart, however, was elsewhere. Chuck had started riding motorcycles at the age of 12. After working in construction, at a machine shop, and in a restaurant, he opened his own motorcycle shop, Triumphs Etc., in San Antonio, Texas.
In 1983 Chuck moved back to Roswell to work at Champion Motorsports. He continued building and servicing bikes until the time of his death.
Chuck was preceded in death by his mother, his father, and his brother Larry Jeter. He is survived by his step-mother, June Stanley of Roswell, 3 step-sisters, and a brother, David Jeter and his wife Judy of Dennison, Texas, an Uncle Paul Francis of Waco, TX, and a Cousin Michael Francis of Roswell. Chuck is also survived by his friend whom he loved like a son, Matt Burkhart, of Ruidoso.
