Catarino Cat Grado Valenzuela
A rosary is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Sunday, November 9, 2008 at St. Johns Catholic Church for Catarino Cat Grado Valenzuela, 68 of Roswell who passed away November 6, 2008 at his home. A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 10, 2008 at St. Johns Catholic Church. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.
Catarino was born on October 5, 1940 in Mulato, Chihuahua, Mexico to German Valenzuela and Juana Grado Valenzuela. He was preceded him in death by his parents, one brother and one great-granddaughter.
Catarino was married on October 5, 1960 to Guadalupe Hernandez in Artesia, NM. She survives him at the family home.
Catarino is also survived by his sons: Albert H. Valenzuela and wife Bernice, Rufino H. Valenzuela and wife Donna; his daughters: Barbara V. Sanchez and husband, Matilda H. Valenzuela, Kathleena H. Valenzuela; and one grandson raised as a son: Reynaldo H. Valenzuela and fianc Jodi Klim all of Roswell; his brothers: Santos Valenzuela of Artesia, Manuel Valenzuela, Felipe Valenzuela both of Mulato, Chihuahua, Mexico; his sisters: LaLa Armendariz of Dallas, Tx, Patricia Montoya and husband Gonzalo of Lake Arthur; numerous cousins, nephews and nieces; seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Catarino has lived in Roswell for 38 years coming here from Artesia, NM. He was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church. Catarino was a cowboy who loved to break and ride horses. He was well known by his nickname Cat. He worked in the oilfields, and then the last ten years he worked as a janitor at N.M.M.I.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and friends.
