On June 28th, 2007 Carolyn Spencer passed away at her home, after fighting a long and courageous battle with cancer.

A memorial service to celebrate Carolyns life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Ballard Funeral Chapel. Following the service family will receive friends at 902 Caminisito in Roswell. Carolyns wishes were to be cremated, and at a later date her ashes will be buried at the foot of her fathers grave in Albuquerque.

Carolyn was born on June 8, 1955 in Albuquerque, NM to Betty Jean and AD Kirk. She was raised in Albuquerque but moved to Roswell in November of 1987. For the past twenty years she work for Pioneer Bank where she was ultimately promoted to Assistant Vice President of Loan Servicing.

Nine years ago on July 3, 1998 Carolyn married her husband and best friend, David Spencer. She moved to Artesia, NM and became very active in her husbands business, Spencer Construction. She loved designing Kitchens and Baths for the business as well as being the bookkeeper, while continuing to work for Pioneer Bank in Roswell.

Carolyn was very talented, and anything she could imagine, she could do. Her hobbies included stained glass, glass etching, sewing, gardening and home decorating.

She was a member of the Roswell Red Coats and served on the Board of Directors for Working Mothers Day Nursery.

The most important thing in Carolyns life was her family, always putting them before herself. Her survivors include her husband, David M. Spencer of Artesia; sons, Jason L. Shanley of Albuquerque and Allen K. Shanley of Roswell; mother, Fern Monroe of Roswell; sister, Nancy Mather of Roswell; father-in-law, Bill Spencer and mother-in-law, Sue Spencer both of Artesia; brother-in-law, Randy Spencer and his wife, Kris of Artesia; sister-in-laws, Kathy Spencer and Tracie Cronk of Waco, TX; nieces and nephews, Andrea and Forest Moreno of Roswell, Zakory Beeman of Roswell, Erik, Logan, Micah, and Reece Spencer of Artesia; granddaughter, Alyssa Moreno; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; her puppy, Lily whom she dearly loved; and many supportive and caring friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to her wonderful friends at Pioneer, especially Charolette Gibson, John Hitchcock, Britt Donaldson, Rosalyn Robbinson, and Christopher Palmer. We would also like to send a special thanks to Dr. Gabriele Stiller, Dr. Zoneddy Dayao, Dr. Khan, and all the nurses at the Artesia Hospital, the nurses at the Roswell Cancer Treatment Center, as well as Raymond Otero, Larry Stiles, Rodney Eakin, and Lisetta Ketchell at Ballard Funeral Home.
