Carmen Emilia Frances Trujillo
Carmen Emilia Frances Trujillo, a proud Dominican, who loved the United States, was a dedicated mother, first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced her culture in every moment with them. In the early days of watching the Army marching parade in Roswell, N.M, her children witnessed her proudly yelling in broken English, “Viva El Army!” …” Viva el United States!” She lived a humble life full of laughter and joy. She never met a stranger and would help anyone in need. But most importantly, because of her faith in God and an unwavering love of Jesus, her life was defined by God and a never-failing smile. It was free. She shared it with everyone she met. Today it resonates in her children through their everyday life.
Carmen, with a 3rd grade education, encouraged her children in every part of their lives. Her son, a Superintendent of schools, another son, a high school Assistant Principal, a daughter, an early Childhood Educator and homemaker, and her youngest daughter, an Executive Director of schools, are a testament of a life lived dedicated to God, as she always professed, “God has blessed my children.”
