B.W. Bud Harris
A graveside service is scheduled for 1 pm, Friday, June 15, 2012 in Spur, Texas for B.W. Bud Harris 89, who passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012 in Roswell, NM. Bud will lie in state on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 from 8 am to 7 pm at Ballard Funeral Home in Roswell, NM and at Campbell Funeral Home in Spur, Texas on Thursday, June 14, 2012.
Bud was born September 22, 1922 in Dickens County, Texas to William Albert and Myrtle Henderson Harris. He married Hazel Marie Parsons Harris in September 1947, she preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters.
He is survived by Wayne Harris and wife Sharon of House, NM, Helen Riddall and husband Delbert of Roswell, NM and Larry Harris and wife Kathy of San Angelo, TX five grandchildren, Renee Elliott, Darrin Riddall, Lyle Harris, Lorne Harris and Ronnie Harris six great grandchildren, Khristopher and Nathan Riddall and Devon, Xavier, Santana and Dominic Harris.
Bud was a veteran in the United States Army and served during WWII. He was recipient of EAME Campaign Medal with four Bronze Stars, Distinguished Unit Badge, Purple Heart and American Defense Service Medal. He was a past member of the East Grand Plains Lion Club and Roswell Elks Lodge 969. Bud was a farmer in Kalgary, Texas and then moved to Roswell where he retired as a manager from the Pecos Valley Feed Yard.
