Billie Sweeney

Billie Ruth England Sweeney age 71, passed away on April 23, 2008. She passed away after a courageous 15 year battle with Emphysema and 2 year battle with Lung Cancer. She was born in Shafter, California to Robert Joe and Pearly Lee Copeland England. Her parents followed the harvest through California, New Mexico and Texas finally settling in Marlow, Oklahoma. Billie graduated from Marlow High School. She met and married her husband Robert M. Sweeney on April 9, 1955. Robert worked various jobs after he was discharge out of the United States Army. They finally settled in Las Vegas, Nevada where they raised their three children, David Allen, Raymond Dean and Nancy Elaine.

Billie was a very strong and brave woman who didnt want anyone to see her suffering and always had a smile for people. She often said Dont cry for me, laugh with me. Billie was a member of Grace Community Church and devoted follower of Jesus Christ. She was active in the Sisters of Stitches quilting ministry. She would volunteer at the Community Kitchen and various other church events.

Billie was a very loving human being. She showed what unconditional love really meant. She never judged a person and only showed compassion. Anyone who knew her knew what a blessing she was. She loved her family almost as much as the Lord and showed it everyday. She never had a negative word to say about anyone. She was a very positive person and it showed through to anyone who met her. She had many friends and will be missed tremendously.

Billie leaves behind her husband of 53 years Robert M. Sweeney; three children: David Allen Sweeney of Omaha, Nebraska, Raymond Dean Sweeney of North Augusta, South Carolina and Nancy Elaine Gibbons of Martinez, Georgia; eight grandchildren: Stephanie Ellen Farley, Kristy Joann Gibbons and Julie Ann Gibbons of Martinez, Georgia, Jennifer Lee Davis of Pope AFB, Jason Allen Sweeney of Omaha, Nebraska, Sabrina Sweeney of Norton, Kansas, Sebastian Patrick Sweeney and Sterling Rae Sweeney North August, South Carolina. She also leaves behind one great granddaughter: Alliyah Jaylin Diane Farley of Martinez, Georgia.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents: Robert Joe England and Pearly Lee Copeland England of Marlow, Oklahoma, her brother Robert Joe England of Rifle, Colorado, three sisters, Thelma England Mroz of Seattle, Washington, Christine England Newman of Moreland, Oklahoma, and Joyce Bernice England Cox of Marlow, Oklahoma, on son Richard Miles Sweeney the twin brother to Raymond who died at birth.

The memorial service will be on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace community Church. Pastor Rick Hale will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.
