Bill Doyle Morey Sr.

A funeral service is scheduled for 9:30a.m., Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Grace Community Church for Bill Doyle Morey Sr., 58, of Clovis who passed away March 28, 2008 in Lubbock, TX. Pastor J.R. Ross of Central Baptist Church of Clovis will officiate. Graveside service will be at 3:30p.m., Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Lawn Haven Cemetery in Clovis, NM. Honor Guard and pallbearers will be provided by both Roswell and Clovis Fire Departments

Bill was born on April 12, 1949 to Gene G. Morey and Eula Andrews Morey in Alamogordo, NM. He married Janice Pearce in July 9, 1971 in Kinston, NC.

Bill is also survived by his son: Billy Morey Jr. and his wife Tara of Centralia, WA; his daughter Crystal Morey of Farmington, NM; his sister Betty Baker and husband Ray of Roswell; his mother: Eula Morey and companion Doug Garrett of Roswell; his granddaughter: Aubrie Morey of Centralia, WA; Janice Pearce Blalock his best friend, as well as his 3 poodles, Presious, Rusty and Lucky

Bill graduated from Roswell High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam Conflict. He then worked at the Roswell Fire department from June 1, 1967 to December 1, 1990. During this time he was a firefighter, held the position of Lieutenant and upon retirement held the position of deputy chief. He moved to Clovis and on December 3, 1990 became the Chief of the Clovis Fire Department. He retired on June 3, 1996 and he later worked for AAA Fire Pro Fire Equipment Sales Co.

Bill was past president of NM Fire Chiefs Association, adjunt instructor for State Fire School. He was on the Board of Directors for New Mexico Municipal League, also an advisor to State Fire Marshal Office for specification for fire apparatus. He was also past member of International Association of Fire Chiefs and of the International Society of Fire Service Instructors.
