Beverly Pope entered into her final rest on Saturday November 19, 2016 at the age of 68. Beverly was born to Haskell Graham and Bonnie Walker on December 7, 1947 in Roswell NM. Both of her parents have preceded her in death. A cremation will take place in accordance to her wishes.
Mrs. Pope was born and raised here in Roswell NM. When she was old enough to work Beverly took a job with an air plane manufacture taking advantage of the growing aviation industry in Roswell. She found herself working on the aircraft itself, doing the wiring of the electrical components; she discovered that she had a natural talent for all things mechanical. Aviation companies would bring in their aircraft to be overhauled or upgraded and she was in charge of changing out and installing hundreds of feet of electrical wires. She worked on all types of planes ranging from small two seaters to large Boeing 747's. This type of work suited her natural mechanical nature and being a perfectionist, who expected the same from others, became self-taught in reading and understanding aircraft blue print and schematics. It might have been her attention to detail (or the OCD that a perfectionist thrives on for their process) that set her apart but her performance was always impeccable. Her hard work and diligence earned her the role of manager in many of her jobs. Beverly continued to work and refused to give in to retirement. Her work ethic was as solid as her talent choosing to do everything beyond expectation. She worked in her shop (setup at home) where she continued to practice her craft even until her last days.
Beverly was a woman of integrity who could be trusted with her word. She wasn't much of a cook, who liked to spend her free time at the Eagles playing the slots, but she was a woman with a lot of love who gave her family freely of everything she had. Her heart held more capacity for compassionate caring than most and she was a mother to all. She was a loving wife to her husband Jimmy Pope, married in 1984 in Roswell NM, who gave him the best of herself. She adored her two dogs, one a pug and the other a mutt, and enjoyed the unconditional love that they gave her. Like most of us her life was filled with the many ups and downs but hers is a testament of grace and passion. The legacy that she leaves will not be just her career but rather the love and giving that she has bestowed on her family and the hearts that she has changed by this gift.
Beverly Pope is survived by her husband Jimmy Pope of Roswell NM; Son Jerry Pope and Jane of Roswell NM; Daughter Robbie Rogers of Roswell NM; Sister Linda Crosby and David of Roswell NM; Nephew Chuck Travelstead; and Niece Kim Travelstead. She is preceded in death by her parents Haskell and Bonnie Graham and Brother Robert Graham.
