Betty Lou Madsen Frost
Graveside services will be held at South Park Cemetery at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 10, 2011 for Betty Lou Frost, age 85. Betty passed away peacefully Friday, September 2, 2011 after a brief illness. Pastor Tim Arlet of Adventure Christian Church will be officiating. Betty was born on December 5, 1925 in Horton, Kansas to Sophus and Bessie Madsen. Betty moved to Roswell in 1937 from Kansas with her parents and lived at the house and property which is now known as the Poor Claire Monastery on East 19th Street. She raised club calves and entered them in the fair in Roswell and Albuquerque and won many ribbons and awards for her livestock entries.
Betty attended Roswell schools and graduated from Roswell High School in 1944. She married T. J. Frost December 29, 1945 in Roswell and worked side by side with T.J. for many years in the trucking business. He preceded her in death on October 24, 2006.
Betty was the oldest of 11 children in the Madsen Family and was predeceased by her parents and brothers, Tom Madsen and Jim Madsen and sister in laws Louise Madsen and Clarice Madsen, her best friend. She is survived by two sons, Terry Jack Frost and Thomas Jacob Frost of Roswell and daughter Sharon Joe Fromhold of San Angelo, Texas, 11 grandchildren, Sheila James Ortega, Tracy Frost, Elisha Mike Skrobrok of California, Troy Michelle Frost, Betty Damon Graham of Roswell, Laurie Frost, Millicent Frost, Brittany Fromhold and Samantha Fromhold of San Angelo, Texas, Thomas Frost of Austin, Texas and Amber Chenault of Florida. She also survived by 34 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. Betty is also survived by her sister in law Lula Madsen, her brothers, Gerald Madsen of Warner, Oklahoma, Carroll Beth Madsen of Roswell, Gayle Judy Madsen of Maxwell, NM, Wayne Gay Madsen of Portales, NM her sisters, Shirley John Sechrist of Albuquerque, NM, Martha Dwayne Dickerson of Jasper, TX, Linda Kenneth Goins of Roswell and Sandra Gene Lee of Roswell, NM. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces who loved her dearly.
Betty was a kind, gentle woman a real lady. In her younger years Betty loved being out with her metal detector searching for valuable finds and loved looking and collecting antique glassware. In later years she loved watching Western movies and requested her couch and TV be cremated with her. Her wit and sense of humor will be dearly missed by all. The love her boys had for her was evident in the manner in which she was taken care of in her last days.
