Benjamin S. Lara
With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Benjamin Lara, our devoted and beloved FATHER, Grandfather, and Great Grand Father, on Tuesday January 26, 2021. He was 87 years old. Our FATHER will join in heaven our Dearest Mother, Edna who recently passed away on December 17, 2020. Rest in eternal peace DAD and MOM.
Benjamin S. Lara was born in Dexter, New Mexico on August 1, 1933 to Frutoso (Fred) Lara and Cecilia Salazar.
Benjamin was a devout catholic and a parishioner of St. Peter's Catholic Church. He married Edna King Lara on July 14, 1951 in Roswell, New Mexico, and they have resided here ever since.
Benjamin was preceded in death by his parents Frutoso (Fred) Lara and Cecilia Salazar, Brother Joe Lara, Sisters Aurelia (Bela) Garcia and Esther Sanchez, Daughter Theresa Miller, and recently his beloved wife Edna King Lara.
Benjamin is survived by his sisters Beatrice Kimbrell (Gilbert), Helen Sanchez, and Brothers Daniel Lara and Billy Lara (Dolly). Children, Tony Lara (Rosie), Henry King, Marie Salazar (Isaac), Lucy Solis, Benny Lara (Janet), Beatrice Melendez (Thomas), John Lara (Norma), son in law Gary Miller. Benjamin was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Benjamin worked at Southern Glaziers Wine and Spirits of New Mexico for many years and retired with the title of Sales Rep. The family of Benjamin Lara would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to family and friends that were in constant support of our father during his last years. This includes Beatrice Kimbrell and Judy Portio.
A celebration mass will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. With Father Charlie Martinez. A rosary prayed by Benny Lara and Beatrice Melendez, will precede the mass. Afterwards, per our DAD's request, his ashes will be laid to rest at the gravesite of his beloved wife Edna at South Park Cemetery here in Roswell, New Mexico. The Lara family respectfully request that all attendees follow Covid-19 restrictions and protocol.
