Barbara Gray Penrod

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Ballard Funeral Home for Barbara J. Gray Penrod, 70, who went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 5, 2007. Dr. Onsy Whicker of Tabernacle Baptist Church will officiate. At the time of her death she resided in Culleoka, TN, where she was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia, TN.

Barbara was born July 22, 1936 in Roswell, NM to Guy Allen Gray and Leona Patterson Gray. Her parents have both preceded her in death. She graduated from Roswell High School in 1954.

Barbara married the love of her life, Rev. Joseph L. Penrod on August 12, 1954 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Roswell, NM. Joe was a Baptist minister, and together they served the Lord at various Baptist churches, including Tabernacle Baptist Church in Roswell, NM where Joe was associate pastor; and Temple Baptist Church in Las Cruces, NM, Temple Baptist Church in Hobbs, NM, and Calvary Baptist Church in Moreno Valley, CA, where Joe was pastor. Barbara took her role as Pastors Wife very seriously, and served as a role-model to many young women in all of the churches in which they served.

She is survived by a son, Guy Penrod and his wife, Angie of Culleoka, TN; a daughter, Stephanie Penrod of Riverside, CA; eight grandchildren, Tyler, Logan, Joe, Jesse, Levi, Grayson, Zachariah, and Lacy Penrod, all of Culleoka, TN; a sister Donna Davis and her husband, Bill of Roswell; a niece, Ami Davis Moody and her husband, Thomas of Roswell; a nephew Craig Davis and his wife Stephanie of Albuquerque; a nephew, Steve Barringer and his wife, Marta of Hobbs, NM; and great nephews: Alec, Bryce, and Riley Davis, Lucas Gonzales, and Jordan and Jacob Moody.

Pall-bearers will be Bill Davis, Craig Davis, Thomas Moody, Steve Barringer, Elmer Ford and Doil McCreary.
