Barbara Hurford

On the morning of December 21, 2021, Barbara Jean Hurford received her Christmas wish, and joined her beloved husband in Heaven, to celebrate with Jesus.

Born on July 14, 1933 to Lester and Carrie Roper in Roswell, NM. On August 1, 1951 she married the love of her life, Royce W. Hurford. Together they had three children; Lynette Dockal (Jerry), Yogi Hurford (Jeanette) and Cindy Mealand. She was blessed with eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Barbara worked for American National for 45 years, she and Royce co-owned and operated Turner-Hurford Printing. Barbara was the perfect fan, attending every sporting event her grandchildren had. She loved having family gatherings and entertaining friends. She was always up for a good jeep ride!! She enjoyed reading and taking picture whenever and wherever she could.

Barbara is survived by her two brothers, Bob Roper of Phoenix, AZ and Jerry Roper (Peggy) of Newcastle, OK; her three children, Lynette Dockall, Yogie Hurford, Cindy Mealand; nine grandchildren, Cristi Hicks (Walter), Cheyenne Carrasco (Ahmid), Chase Hurford, Jennifer Tavzel (Mark), Cory Mealand (Kate), Cathi Dockal (Keith), Carrie Dockal, Brandy Main, Faith Main; twelve great grandchildren, Marcus Ary Hicks, John Michael Hicks, Rylan Hicks, Caleb Carrasco, Jaison Hicks, Katelynne Tavzel, Jaedynne Carrasco, Tristyn Tavzel, Ryker Seefeld, Mickey Hurford, L.C. Hurford, Bodhi Hurford, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Carrie Roper; her husband of 62 years Royce W. Hurford, and her granddaughter Kandi Ary.

Services will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at 10:00 am at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Roswell, NM. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Ballard Funeral Home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Chase Hurford, Cory Mealand, Ahmed Carrasco, Caleb Carrasco, Ross Naylor and Garry Rogers.
