Barbara Sue Goins
A graveside service for Barbara Sue Goins, 75, of Roswell will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 12, 2010 at South Park Cemetery and will be conducted by Bishop Wendell Wakefield. Barbara passed away on March 7, 2010 at Heartfelt Manor.
Barbara was born to Lawton J and Dorcas Dellah King Bates in Stamford Jones County, TX on April 11, 1934. She married Jack Gibson in 1952 he preceded her in death as well as both of her parents, her brother, L.J. Bates, her sisters, Nora Faye Collier and Helen Lindsey, and her sons, Timothy Jack Gibson, Jerald Dwain Gibson and Michael Ray Gibson.
Barbara married Stanley Joe Goins on June 19, 1969 he survives her at their home in Roswell. She is also survived by her daughter in laws: Cheryl Gibson of Hemet, CA, Kathleen Gibson of Fence Lake, NM and Diane Gibson of Phoenix, AZ her step sons: Stanley Allen Goins of Portland and Calvin Henry Goins of TX her step daughters: Marci Cunningham and Don McAtee of Iowa her grandchildren: Joseph M. Gibson and wife Jennifer, Joshua M. Gibson and wife Elizabeth all of Phoenix, AZ, Jack M. Gibson and Maureen Gibson of Hemet, CA, Marci Jo, Judah, Dixie Dawn and Enoch Wiggleston all of Knoxville, Tennessee her two great grandchildren: Brianna and Joseph Michael Gibson Jr. of Phoenix, AZ her brother and sister in laws: Tommy Lindsey, Geneva Collins, Archie Topping, Virginia and Charles Ward, Connie Ellis, Kenneth and Linda Goins and Violet Goins and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Her family was very important to her as well as her church family.
Barbara retired from the Transportation Mfg. Corp Accounting Department as a senior clerk in 1994 after 20 years of service. Barbara enjoyed painting, camping, sewing, reading and family history. Some of her fondest memories were working with small children in the nursery at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served many years.
Pallbearers will be Pat Magill, Robert Smith, AR Medaris, James Reese Sr., Stan Vandeveer and Jared Kitchen.
