Asa George Paschall
Asa George Paschall went to meet his Lord on February 8, 2007 at ENMMC after enduring a brief illness. Services will be held Monday, February 12, 2007 at 2:00 PM at First Assembly of God corner of Country Club and Montana . Officiating ministers will be Rev. Nick Capotorto, Rev. Terry Paschall, son and Rev. Robert Hill, nephew. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.
Asa was born September 29, 1918 in Poetry, Texas to Jesse Mastian and Anna Elbalena Paschall. He is survived, by his wife of 66 years, Tishia Maye Raney Paschall who resides at the home. He was blessed with six children, sons Bennie G. wife Jackie, Asa Z. wife Judy, and Terry G. wife LuLu, daughters Betty M. Housewright husband Claudie, Tishia Loretta Throckmorton deceased and Gwen L Reed and late husband Burton, 18 grandchildren, 32 great- grandchildren, 33 great-great- grandchildren along with numerous friends special to the family.
He is also survived by three sisters- in law, Edith Hill of Spiro, OK, Ina Aldrich of Tucson, AZ, and Joe Annie Ramsey husband Claude of Calvert, TX, and brother in- law Zeck Raney and wife Rose of Ashfork, AZ along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eldridge and Jack Paschall, and a sister, Louise Paschall.
Asa moved to New Mexico at the age of six and spent most of his childhood in Ramon, New Mexico. He was a decorated World War II veteran who received a Purple Heart for being wounded in action. He farmed in House, NM several years prior to owning and operating Paschalls Automatic Transmission Service in Roswell for 24 years. He was a founding and current member of Bethel Assembly of God Church.
Asa was an outstanding musician, accomplished in many instruments. He loved gardening and fishing and was a great storyteller who loved to share stories about life on the homestead and bull riding. He had a generous heart and shared what he had with others because he hated to see anyone suffer.
He was loved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Rick and Todd Housewright, Bennie Keith and Eric Paschall, Jamie Throckmorton, Asa Paschall Jr., Donavon and Darren Paschall.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Bethel Assembly of God missions fund.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ballard Funeral Home and Crematory.
