Alfonso Romero

Alfonso Romero, 62, of Artesia, NM, was called home with our Lord on February 13, 2024, after suffering a heart attack and stroke and succumbing to his injuries. He was born in Visalia, CA on September 12, 1961 to Dionicio “Sonny” and Mary Ellen Romero. Alfonso was raised in Clovis, NM and attended Clovis High School. At 17 years of age, he left school for work and later joined the New Mexico Air National Guard, where he served 6 years. He then worked as a meat packer, metal worker and construction laborer amongst other occupations and was a dependable, hardworking man.

Alfonso was preceded in death by his father Dionicio “Sonny” Romero and brother Alex Romero. He is survived by his son Joseph Romero; daughter-in-law Christie Romero; grandchildren Anthony, Alexis, Yannick, Alissa, Enos, Alexander and Aiden; great granddaughter Roselynn; mother Mary Ellen Torres; brothers Alfred, Billy, Noel and Milton; sisters Viola Garcia, Erica Taylor, Desna Wolf and Maxine Romero and companion Liz Bernard.

Alfonso will always be remembered for his free spirit, since of humor, loyal friendship, and willingness to help others. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him and had the pleasure of calling him Dad, Grampo, Son, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Nino, Primo and Friend. 

A viewing will be held from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Ballard Funeral Home, 910 S. Main, Roswell, NM 88203 with services to follow at 1:00 pm.
