Aleen Hinkle McQuiddy
Graveside services for Aleen Hinkle McQuiddy, 80, who died Friday, February 9, 2007 will be held at South Park Cemetery, Tuesday, February 13 at 2:00 p.m. Father Bob Talley of St. Andrews Episcopal Church will officiate.
Aleen McQuiddy, the daughter of the late Rolla Roberts Hinkle and Marian Fell Hinkle and the granddaughter of a pioneer governor of New Mexico, James Fielding Hinkle and Lillian Roberts Hinkle, was born May 15, 1926, in Roswell and graduated from Roswell High School in 1944. She received a BA from Goucher College, Baltimore, MD., in 1948 where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta fraternity for women. She married Arthur Robert McQuiddy in May 1949 in Roswell. For 33 years prior to returning to Roswell in 1980, the McQuiddy family lived in Los Angeles, Calif.; Salt Lake City, Utah; New York City, N.Y.; and Chicago, Ill.
P Active in community affairs in the various cities where she lived, Mrs. McQuiddy was a director and officer of the Salt Lake City Junior League and a director of the Hearing and Speech Foundation there. In New York City she was elected to the board of directors of the Goddard Riverside Community Center, the largest community center in New York City and was chairman of the youth fundraising programs in that organization. She also served as a director of the New York City Junior League was assistant registrar of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the state of New York and was active at Spence SchoolS
