Albert Roy Torres
Albert Roy Torres was born in Hondo, New Mexico, on February 27, 1950. He had lived in Bloomfield, NM for the past 35 years. Albert joined his Angel Daddy Ignacio on Tuesday, July 24, 2012. Albert was the fourth of six children born to Amanda Montes Torrez and Ignacio Gutierrez Torrez. He was planning on retiring from Public Service Company of New Mexico as a Master Electrician in the next few months, after 35 years of stellar service. Albert was raised in the Hondo Valley, where he took pride in helping his parents farm the familys fruit orchard. He attended Hondo Valley Public Schools and graduated in 1968. Albert also attended New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM, where he attained an Associates Degree in electronics. Albert then went on to join the New Mexico National Guard, returned from training, and continued working as an electrician in Borger, Texas and Ruidoso, New Mexico. Upon completing his electrician jobs, he began his career with PNM, in Farmington, NM, at the San Juan Power Plant. Albert was a Supervisor of Maintenance and HVAC. He held many instrumental positions within the San Juan Power Plant, Public Service Company of New Mexico. Albert enjoyed the outdoors where he hunted snow skied, and was also a Ski Instructor to special needs children and other clients. He especially enjoyed skiing in Purgatory, Colorado, one of the best ski resorts in the United States. This is where he did most of his snow ski instruction. Albert had a heart of gold and enjoyed joking around and making everyone around him feel welcome. No one was a stranger to Albert. He loved his family very much and enjoyed all his friends. He always had a smile on his face and will be remembered for his wit and serious knowledge.
Albert is survived by his loving partner of 12 years, Dorothy his son Ryan Albert Dorothys children David and Rikki granddaughters Lori and Tasha dear mother Amanda Montes Torrez brothers Ray and wife Theresa, Joe and wife Priscilla sisters Lydia and husband Juan Gomez, Lorena and partner Oziel Chavez and Elizabeth Betty and husband Robert Butch Villareal many loving nieces and nephews, and wonderful friends.
A rosary is scheduled for10:30 am, Saturday, July 28, 2012 at St. Judes Catholic Church in San Patricio, NM with mass following at 11:00 am. Father Alvin Galvin will be officiating. Albert will be laid to rest next his Daddy at the Hondo Cemetery immediately after the mass. There will also be a memorial service scheduled for 7 pm, Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomfield, NM. Albert will lie in state at Ballard Funeral Home on Friday, July 27, 2012 from 3 to 7 pm.
Serving as pallbearers are Christopher Torres, Anthony Torres, Carlos Villareal, Gerry Maez, Steven Torrez, Raul Torrez, David Smith, Michael Maez, Joseph Romero and Aaron Romero.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his name to the charity of your choice.
