Ader Addie Elzadie Hasler

Elzadie Hasler joined her beloved husband Claude on June 3, 2011. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 pm, Friday, June 10, 2011 at Ballard Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Richard Grisham of Bethel Baptist Church will be officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.

Elzadie Hasler was born in Girard, Texas on November 3, 1927. However the county clerk filed her date as November 4, 1927. Zadie, as she was known to friends and family, was the fourth of nine children plus nine step brothers and sisters. She grew up on a farm outside of Hermaleigh, Texas.

Near the start of WWII, Zadie met a US Army Ranger, Sgt. Claude W. Hasler and they were married at the end of WWII. Claude and Zadie moved back to Roswell in 1945 and over the next sixtysix years raised three children, a younger sister, a brother and two nieces.

Zadie was always mom to her extended family, as well as all the neighborhood kids. Zadie was very proud of the fact that she was always home for her kids as they were growing up. She then spent five years working at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center to help her kids go to college.

Zadie is survived by her son Kenneth Hasler and his wife Joan of Newhall, California, her daughter Melba Handlin and her husband Ken of Aloha, Oregon, Joyce Curtis and her husband Larry of Roswell, New Mexico, two nieces, Rose Ann, and husband Dana Lair of Roswell, and Shery and husband Pat Lewis of Grants, NM, nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and one great greatgrandchild. She is also survived by five of her brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Hasler, Larry Curtis, Michael Hasler, Ken Handlin, Dan Coupland, Bruce Hasler and Chelsea Hasler.
