A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM, Sunday, July 19, 2015 for Adan Barreras, 94, at Ballard Funeral Home Chapel with a mass of the Resurrection scheduled for 12:00 PM, Monday, July 20, 2015 at St. Peter's Catholic Church and burial to follow at South Park Cemetery with Deacon Howard Herring of St. Peter's Catholic Church officiating. Adan passed away Friday, July 17, 2015 and surrounded by the love of his family.
Adan was born June 26, 1921 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Juan L. Barreras and Manuela Hernandez. He served his country during World War II, Army as Private First Class, Battery B 75th Field Artillery Battalion, as Rifleman and Gun Crewman Heavy Artillery and New Mexico National Guard, Qualified as Sharpshooter. He worked many years in construction and maintenance at the Chaves County Court House and St. Peter's Church. He was a loving husband, he enjoyed dancing, hunting, gardening, camping, being a mechanic on his vehicles, a beer once in a while, and watching wrestling. Most of all, he was a very family oriented man who loved his children enjoyed his grandchildren and took pride in teaching them everything to get by in life. Adan will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Adan is survived by his sons Richard P. Barreras and fiancé Dalene Lucero and Danny P. Barreras; daughter Angelita B. Aragon and husband Steve Soliz; brother Jerry Barreras; sister Hortencia Torres; son in-law Ralph Melendez and daughter in-law Jane Sanchez. Also surviving Adan are his grandchildren Andrew A. Barreras and wife Michelle, Frank S. Barreras, Rick A. Barreras, Jonathan Barreras, Michael Morales and wife Erika, Marcos Morales, Erika F. Martinez and husband Victor, Andijo Trujillo and fiancé Kenny Barncastle, Melissa Morales, Valarie Albarez and husband Michael, Angela Gonzales, Daniella Barreras, John Sanchez, Luis Bachicha, Dominc Barreras and Victoria Martinez; 32 great grandchildren and 7 great great-grandchildren.
Adan is preceded in death by his wife Felicita Prudencio Barreras; his parents Juan and Manuela Barreras; son Frank P. Barreras; daughter Mary Helen Torrez Melendez; great grandson Anthony A. Barreras; brother Arnaldo Barreras and sister Bellsora Barreras.
Serving as pallbearers are Andrew Barreras, Frank Barreras, Rick Barreras, Jonathan Barreras, Michael Morales, and Marcos Morales.
