Mashaw, 98, who passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014 in Roswell. A funeral mass is scheduled for 11 am, Tuesday, June 24, 2014 also at St. Peters Catholic Church with Father Charlie Martinez officiating. Ada will lay in rest in Paris, Arkansas.
Ada Ramsey Mashaw was born on September 15, 1915 in Dublin, Arkansas as the youngest of six girls. She loved her life on the farm and later moved to Paris, Arkansas where she met her husband, Charley. They had three children: Donald, Elizabeth Ann, and Elaine. Donald passed away at the age of five, and also her husband Charley in 1990. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann McVay of Roswell, and Elaine Shea and her husband, Kevin of Arvada, CO grandchildren: Jeff McVay and his wife Debbie of Levelland, TX, Mark McVay and his wife Ginger of Pampa, TX, Amy Davis of Roswell, Travis Mattern and his wife Camille and twin daughters Loren and Lena of Steamboat Springs, CO, Jenny Mattern and her husband Tim Wellman of Boulder, CO, and Jimmy Mattern and wife Jenn and daughters Rhory and Shelby of Craig, CO great grandchildren: Natalie Kirkland and her husband Zach, Stephanie Gilchrist and her husband Jeremiah, Trevor McVay, Alec Davis, Bryce Davis and greatgreat grandchildren Taigyn Kirkland and Landyn.
Ada Mashaw moved to Roswell from Carlsbad in 1990 after the death of her husband, Charley. Right away she became an active member in St. Peters Womens Society and was always eager to cook for all the funerals. She took honor in taking care of the Church linens as she had done in Carlsbad for over 25 years. Nothing was as important to Ada as spending precious time with her family. Many a weekend she would spend playing games and cards with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved cooking, reading, and playing cards with her beloved friends.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Poor Claires Monastery, 809 E. 19th Street, Roswell, NM 88201.
