Aberisto Frank Lucero Sr. went to be with his mom and oldest brother on May 20, 2009.
Frank was born on August 19, 1955 to Maggie Lopez Lucero and Joe Dolores Lucero Sr. in Gallup, New Mexico. His father survives him. He moved to Roswell with his family in 1965. He attended Del Norte Elementary, Mesa Middle School and Goddard High School. He joined the military and proudly served his country. Frank was known throughout the community for his years of coaching and umpiring baseball, softball and basketball for the youth of the community. He worked for years as a security officer at Buds Lounge and the Tower Bar. For the last number of years, Frank provided escort for Ballard Funeral Home and LaGrone Funeral Chapel.
Frank is survived by his loving wife and companion for the last 24 years, Dalene Lucero. His children and their spouses, Frank Lucero, Jr. and Melissa of Tulsa, OK, Maria J. Garcia, Robert Lucero and Brandie of Roswell, Irene Groves and Wesley of Grady, NM, T.J. Frederich and Christina, Christopher Lucero, Deserea Stone and Marive Lucero of Roswell,NM.. Franks grandchildren were the light of his life, Erica Marshall, James Lucero, Chantae Lucero, Amber Lucero, Deserea Stone, Ruben Salazar, Jr., Peter Vale, Jr., Angelica Vale, Elissa Smith, Wesley Groves, Jr., David Groves, Angelene Groves, Travis Fulkerson, Tyler Lucero, R.J. Lucero, Tate Lucero, Grayson Frederich and Hayden Frederich.
Frank is also survived by his Dad, Joe D. Lucero, Sr., brothers, sisters and their spouses, Josie and Eddie Espinoza, Gilbert Lucero and Phil, Rudy Lucero and Norma, Bobby Lucero and Blanca, Ray Lucero and Andrea, Candy Samario and Joe, Eloise Pino- Vasquez and Gabriel and Monica Garcia. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. His father- in -law and mother-in -law, Glenn D. and Wanda M. Cook and Aunt Dorothy Godinez. Frank was preceded in death by his mother, Maggie, oldest brother Joe and Uncle Esteben Lucero, as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents and his brother in law Roger Cook.
A rosary will be recited at St. Johns Catholic Church on Monday, May 25, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held by Fr. Juan Montoya at St. Johns Catholic Church, Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. A military graveside service will be conducted by the Roswell Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at 3201 N. Kentucky Space 79.
Pallbearers will be Raul Castro Sr., Humberto Flores, Charlie Reese, Sattie Chavez, Michael Albarez, and Larry Candelaria.
