Charles Berry

January 1, 1930 — June 28, 2017

Charles "Chuck" L. Berry
Chuck was born 1 Jan 1930 in Williamsfield, Illinois, and has been considered a New Year's Baby ever since. He got through primary grade school in Monica, Illinois and high school at Princeville, Illinois. Chuck joined the United States Air Force 3 Sept 1947, and retired 1 Dec 1967, as a Master Sergeant. During his military service, he was awarded several medals & ribbons to include both the Army & Air Force Good Conduct Medals. After his military service ended, Chuck became a member of the Roswell Police Department and later moved to the City of Roswell Water Department before retiring from the city on 1 Jan 1990.

Chuck married Hattie Jo Dyer on 7 Feb 1953. Despite being told it would never last, they were married for 48 years. It took her death to break it up. Chuck married his second wife, Evelyn C. Price of Roswell; where he lived with her until his passing. His daughter, Polly Hall preceded him in death. He had three grandchildren; Diana Hall Garrett, Karen Hall and Larry Hall. He had four great grandsons; Jason Garrett, Kevin Garrett, Joshua Hall and Logan Hall. He had four great-great grandchildren: Ethan Garrett, Beau Garrett, Tenley Garrett and Dillon Garrett. To quote Chuck, he was "Proud of All!" Chuck also had many nieces and nephews.

Chuck's last wishes before he was called home were for all to remember not to grieve for him; as he was a Christian who loved GOD and what he had done for him. Chuck worshiped GOD and knew Jesus Christ was his savior. Chuck wanted everyone to know he would be in heaven with his loved ones and friends who had gone on before him. He requested his services be upbeat and for his life to be celebrated; as he was happy in heaven.

Chuck's final statement to everyone was "So long for now, I've had a KC-97 tanker flight crew waiting for me since June 26, 1956."
